It is an interesting question. Unfortunately, I haven't used Opera for a couple of years, so I can't give you complete answers. (At the time, Opera was annoying me with some problem or other, and Phoenix 0.3 or 0.4 was finally becoming usable.)
In general, Firefox is well set up for the basic user, and if you like to get your hands dirty, you can customize the hell out of it and make it work
exactly the way you want it to.
Also, unless you purchased Opera, you will be able to get more usable window space because you won't have to see that advertisement.
Give it a shot, it is free. And you will probably run into a few things that are done differently, and you will wonder how to get them back. Ask here, there's probably a hidden setting in about
:config or an extension that will make it work the way you want.
