A definite notch down from others such as "Throne of Blood" and "Seven Samurai". This is a gory, bloody movie; unfortunately, the blood is so fake looking that its more distracting than compelling. The storyline is here, the acting is here, the cinematography is somewhat here, but something is missing and Im still not sure what. Did you miss that this was a King Lear re-telling? You didn't mention it in your review. BTW "Throne of Blood" is Macbeth.
