As to the smell, depends on how well the girl and or man has "cleaned up" (so to speak) before the act.
I have never tried but would be pretty open to it. It seems as though many men suffer from some (homo)phobia when it comes to their own hole. I don't get the whole "I know what comes out of it" argument. You know what comes out of your penis right? There isn't THAT big of a difference in that respect. Anyway, I guess it all comes down to your personal limits. Let's not be judgemental here...
