. But given the choice to not own slaves, he decided to own them. He was probably the most brilliant man to serve as president, but he was also the biggest hypocrite. One of my personal pet peeves is hypocracy. And when he is known most for his high-minded beliefs in liberty while he held slaves, he comes out a big hypocrite to me.
