I quit when it hit $3.35 here in NYC back in 97... Bloomberg pushed up the taxes on cigarettes sold here in the city when they banned smoking indoors. The rest of the state I have no idea.

A carton of Marlboro from the gas station next to the Red Roof Diner on Route 3 in New Jersey (about 8 miles from NYC) is $50.70. Single packs are well over $6.
I can remember buying smokes in the ship's store for 16 cents pack. I'm really glad I stopped. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford the necessities of life: Anime, Porn, and Diet Coke.
