Well with the 60 vote in the senate thing to get anything done, there still is a check.

I agree one party rule for to long leads to problems, it also leads to fighting inside the group in power.

Democrats held the house for 40 years and it led to a lot of abuse and graft. Republicans fixed it a bit, but I'm sure if the Republicans are in power for another 30 years in the house they will have their own abuses.
