Yep, its been a while since I've seen it but thats how I remember it too. Thats why it was a big sacrifice and everything, they were giving up immortal life. Thats also why that night was having some really bad, boring centuries in there.
George Lucas rejecting a script that the other two liked does worry me a bit though. I mean, this is a guy who liked the line "the sand is so rough, unlike your skin which is soft" and decided to use it in his movie. I have a hard time trusting script judgement like that.
But hopefull Spielberg and Ford will be able to slap some sense into him if they find another good script.
