'Drafted' caught my eye too and I had a mini heart attack!
I know that must really suck having her overseas. Has she expressed any sadness at having to leave you too? I think that opportunity would be a once in a lifetime thing and she can't give up that chance.
I'm sure you've thought of this already, but is there any way you might be able to see her in France? Maybe save a bit of the money from baseball and spend a week or two there? France is supposed to be the romance capitol, I think, or something like that. I think spending a week of romance there with her would easily make up for you two being apart. Of course, going to France needs a little more than a week of eating ramen and beans so perhaps you guys could buy a webcam each and see what you can do?
You can be sad that you'll be alone for a while, but be happy for her to live a dream at the same time
