Question
In the song "Mr. Roboto" by Styx, they use some japanese text. The Lyrics go:
Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto
Mata ah-oo hima de
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Himitsu wo shiri tai
What does that mean? I`m pretty sure Himitsu means secret, but i don`t know the rest.
If You could figure that out, that would be great. Thanks.
Answer
Domo arigatou Mr. Roboto is of course 'Thank you Mr. Roboto'. I've never heard the other lyrics in the song though. The rest of the song goes like this:
Mata o-hima de (See you next time you are free)
Himitsu wo shiritai (I want to know your secret(s))
Mata o-me ni kakarimasu means until the next time I see you, lit. the next time I lay my eyes on you. Shortened to just "Mata" means "See you" or "See you later". O-hima de means, at your leisure, so I take Mata o-hima de to mean, see you at your next convenience. But I've never heard this as a stock good-bye phrase, so unless I see the actuall text I'm only about 85%-90% sure about this.
