i guess i was just lucky, but my 10g ipod (which i bought second hand last time i was in japan) has never had battery issues.
as for the ipod photo... wow... 60g and colour... and in about two weeks there'll probably be a camera attachment from one of the 3rd party companies.
i really doubt Apple would allow there to be a battery life issue in this model since the battery and price are the only serious complaints that have been made.
