If you buy a pre-built system, they work "right out of the box." Better to build your own system, though. I have friends coming over to my house tonight and they're bringing their PCs. We'll probably play co-op and head to head. And my video card enables me to play on a 55" television (if I had one). Better yet, I can use a projector and use a blank wall as a screen and have a much larger image than 55 inches.
A better argument would be that multiple people can much more easily play on one system. Of course this only is good for certain games. But other than that, I don't see anything else a console can do that my PC cannot.
