I think some people are just aware that in a lot of environments (work, social circles etc) evidence of your having contributed positively gives status. In this particular community a personalised title or an Avatar shows folks (without them having to look anywhere else) that a poster has been been contributing to the standard that those who decide these things would consider satisfactory or better. Evidence of ones ability to provide interesting and good quality input can only be a good thing ie: “maybe this is someone I should listen to”.
Its more important to some than others, I guess, but from what I can see showing your status seems to be encouraged here.
Personally, I love the idea of fitting in to an established group if it is possible, and a lot of people probably feel the same way.
And yeah, its better to have searched for a similar thread first, but you’ve all responded to it and at least one person has learnt something new. Namely, “Read da roolz”.
