Won't die out like consoles? Gaming PC's require upgrading way more often than consoles. PCs die out <I>faster</I> than consoles.
Most shooters do work better on PC, but some don't (Halo). Gamepads can compete, it's a simple fact of the mouse and keyboard being better for FPS and that's about it. For most of the other types of games, gamepads are more comfortable.
