I'm not sure if it's just me getting old but all there are a lot of these neo-cover bands out there - Interpol, Hot Hot Heat, The Strokes, The Rapture, etc...
The lyrics are new, and you can't really place the music, but it's still a cover. Now that being said, most of the bands execute things well, and they're certainly doing better than the dinosaur bands out there that keep plugging along. Heck, I think there are at least four bands putting out new Cure material right now, and I think the Cure is probably the worst of the lot.
