Border Collies are tops if you like working dogs, that can also be family dogs. You do have to keep them busy, very busy, like taking them for a run everyday. They need to burn off that energy or they get into mischief. Another idea might be a Vizsla, or a Weimreiner. They are bigger, shorter coat, working dogs but very affectionate family dogs.
