I've shaved them a couple of times, but it was because I used to be a swimmer...
They felt nice to the touch just after they had been shaved LOL
My friends all made fun of me (but I was cool with it)
And my ex, didnt make much of a fuss, since she was a swimmer as well, and well, she had an open mind about it, so it was all cool for me

I dont know if I'd ever do it again though, now that Ive stopped swimming, except if my s.o. especifically asked me to.
