Taylor is stronger, and bigger then Hopkins. His handspeed still isn't great, somthing you must have IMO to beat Hopkins. But, it will come, I promise you. It was much improved in the Marquez fight.
Hopkins next fight rumour was supposed to be Sturm, but he took a fight in Germany. If Taylor can beat Joppy in a conviencing manner, Taylor will get his shot at Hopkins, I would expect in the early part of next year. I would say Trinidad possibly, but Trinidad has nothing to gain from a Taylor fight. He just un-retired, Taylor could, and IMO would beat him, it would be over for Trinidad before he gets his comeback started.
I've been saying it for about 6 months Taylor needs to be in the ring with Hopkins. The only problem with Taylor, he's natrually bigger then 160. As he progresses, unless he drinks alot of slim fast, he won' be able to stay at 160. He's at least 168-175 fighting weight. He doesn't even weigh in pre-fight. He did in the Mrquz fight, he was 180 if I remember right.
I would expect a stoppage in the 9th or 10th. I would expect his handspeed to improve even more. Manny Stewart says he also lacks the lateral movement, but he expects that to come with time. After this, IMO, he fights Sturm on HBO, (ALOT of experts, Ron Lipton, Juan C. Alloyon - I think that's how you spell it, want to see this fight, and expect this will be a mandatory fight) then Hopkins for the big payday.
