Street Fighter 2!
Close second King of Fighter 98.
2D > 3D for Fighting Games IMO. Most of the 3D game are too realistic like VF, Tekken, SC, ect. The realism of it kind of bores me. If I want fights to be that realistic, I'd go outside and engage in a fight. I need to throw fireballs and stuff to enjoy the game.
