i was very skeptical about the books being any good for adults, but was finally convinced of their worth after a number of good recommendations. the first two books were entertaining, but like others have said, the series really picked up with the third book.
if i had to take a guess at who dies, i would agree with others and say dumbledore. he is a great character, but i think setting up harry vs. voldemort mano-a-mano is key for the final book. i would be very surprised if any of the key characters are not around for book seven.
