Squirrel Pot Pie

Cook squirrel until tender, covered with water and salt to taste.

Dough:

1 cup milk
3 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Enough flour to make very stiff dough

Roll dough as thin as possible. Cut in squares. Use large baking dish. Grease baking dish. Add layer of thinly sliced potatoes in baking dish, then layer of dough. Add layer of squirrel in middle of dish. Continue layers of potatoes and dough, ending with top layer of dough. Cover with broth squirrel was cooked in and bake about 1 hour at 375 degrees F.

Recipe taken from Miss Daisy Celebrates Tennessee by Daisy King, 1995, The Hillsboro Press. ISBN 1-881576-54-X.

And in case you're wondering, no... I have never eaten a squirrel. Nor do I intend to. Yuck.
