Nutra Sweet (aspertame) turns to formaldehyde in your system, Splenda (surculose) doesn't.

Both, I've read, can trigger an insulin release from the brain thinking it's getting sugar, which can then trigger carbohydrate cravings. I've never heard of them being converted into gluclose, and then fat, though.
