I think most "atheists" would never say that there is absolutely no chance that there is not a God. I consider myself an atheist, but I firmly believe that there may be a God.
I view the term agnostic as meaning that they generally air on the side of belief in some higher power, but they aren't quite sure what it is, and don't believe they will ever know.
I know this doesn't go with the Dictionary definition, but that's how I use it.
