Hey
First off, I have had my BD for 5 days now and the pet store was telling me about how healthy he was and playful - and he really was while I was there!
Anyways, After I brought him home, the second night I got him to go to his water and get a drink, afterwards he began to vomit up clear, thick, mucus and I just assumed he got too much to drink. Yesterday I began to mist him off with a spray bottle and after he licked some water off the glass, he did the same thing!
I have also put some crickets in his tank (couple days ago) and they would gather around him and even sit on his head and he will just close his eyes. After 2 days, all of the crickets were still in there but I heard that it can be harmful to the BD if you leave them in overnight so I immediately took them out.
As for his looks, his skin tone looks normal and he's starting to act a bit better most of the time (moving around, though still very little).
His home is a rather big 55 gallon tank and he does have a heat lamp (one for day and a dim, blacklight type bulb for night) but I was thinking that maybe this isn't keeping him warm enough? Is the tank too big for the single heat lamp?
I have a few assumptions, nothing more:
--> Crickets damaged the BD while being in there overnight
--> The heat lamp isn't giving the appropriate temperature (i heard this can cause digestion problems, but he hasn't eatten anything!)
ps. He also seems to hate the sand I put in the tank, he never gets in it and always lays on his log. If I need to, I will remove the sand today and place a towel in there until I can get a "grass" mat.
Thanks for ANY help! I hope we can find out what's wrong with him!
