It doesnt really apply anymore since now we can pretty much grow anything all year round no matter what the conditions. Just so ya know... The term "winter wheat" doesn't mean that it actually grows during the winter. Well at least not here in Canada anyway. Also, corn isn't really "grown" in the fall, it more like it's planted in the spring like most other crops and harvested in the fall. Same goes for pumpkins.
This time of year still is in general the end of the harvest here in Canada. Anything that grows outside (the vast majority of our crops) is harvested in the fall.
