The right to bare arms in the united states was created to allow us to have a well regulated militia, that would serve as an ultimate check against the federal government. If they ever get to out of control, or take away our freedoms, etc, it is the duty of the militia to take control. If you REALLY want to lower gun related crimes, put restrictions on the .357 snub nose pistol. Not a 3,000 dollar H&K Sub-machine gun.
