I think you have to be in sort of a "Robert Rodriguez" mode to like it. Just think of QT and Rodriguez laughing about this movie, and it makes you like it. Rodriguez is hilarious if you've ever seen him talk or being interviewed. I just think it's great that we still have people out there that are willing to take risks and do unconventional stuff in movies nowadays.
If the movie kept going with the crime drama aspect, it would be....another crime drama.
If the movie started with the vampire killing, it would be...another vampire movie.
Now, because of the movie being an amalgamation of the two, it has a special place in film history. Definitely stands out (for different reasons).
I'm glad they made it that way
