IMO, don't carry gasoline around in your car, very dangerous. The fumes are volatile and highly flammable and explosive with the slightest spark. That's why I'm nervous when driving with a 5gal container of race gas on my way to track days ...one day I will explode.
Good stuff already listed, plus I always carry a blanket in case an impromtu picnic opportunity arises or you want to throw it down in an open field under dark skies and lay on it with your friend and watch the stars. I'd add a lighter or dry pack of matches too.
