It's a players responsibility to get on base so his team can have the opportunity of trying to get him home, thus scoring a run and yet that player is not a team player or is only looking out for himself?
It's kind of like the argument of "We're "x" runs behind, we didn't need that player to hit a home run. We needed to get a rally going."
Ummmmm..... no, you need to get runs on the board, just like you need to get runners on base.
