that is a different view of the death penalty.
Inasfar as I could accept the death penalty, it would have to be on the grounds and by the methods you talk about - the elimination of certain elements of society that are decided to be unfit to live, a methodical and surgical operation.
To kill someone, the only justifiable motive I can find is self defence, either of an individual, or of society - and it should be done as efficiently as possible if it is to be done.
Calls for brutal torture to be given to torturers, public spectacles of execution, and so on.. just leaves me call. Vengence is not imo a justifiable motive or cause of punishment. And I think it is widely accepted by most people that the death penalty is not a deterrent against pathological or sexual murderers.
