The Yankees have two starters at this point: Vasquez and Mussina. Lieber has been a disappointment, Hernandez is having problems and it will take a miracle for Brown to be effective again this year. Their bullpen has been fantastic, but they have been fantastic in WAY too many games.
Boston looks ok. Schilling is now their ace, Pedro can still be Pedro, although he is now a seven-inning-max pitcher, Lowe and Wakefield are solid enough and Arroyo has pitched well. The bullpen is ok, but who knows what Foulke will do.
Minnesota has possibly the best 1-2 punch right now in Santana and Radke, but after that it falls off. The bullpen is solid, and Nathen looks great.
Atlanta has a bunch of solid-to-good starters, and should be ok. Any bullpen with John Smoltz is a great bullpen.
St. Louis will be without Carpenter, but the other four have pitched well. Their bullpen is questionable though, but solid.
I think that of all the teams Boston has the best starting pitching. New York has the best bullpen. Overall, based on the pitching I would put my vote with Boston.
