Myself, I enjoyed the movie a great deal. Jeff Goldblum's character was pretty well done, and he is not a very strong actor generally, so it was nice to see. It is unfortunate that Ryan Phillippe was again cast in the role of inscrutable rich kid, as I think Cruel Intentions was more than bad enough.
I think Keiren Culkin developed into a very good actor despite his father. He is also very good in The Dangerous Lives of Alterboys. Though he does appear to have fallen into the same pattern of characters as Jake Gyllenhaal, i.e. the brooding, misunderstood intelligent loner. Of course, I'm basing that off of two specific movies each, so maybe not.
