Hmmm.... When I was seven or eight, I saw something similar. I walked around the corner of the house and there, on the fence, was a bright greeen _thing_ that looked like a cross between an octopus and a spider; not as many as eight legs, maye. It was very fleshy, and had long black markings down each leg to the center. Maybe three feet across. I ran like hell and got some people. But when I came back, there was nothing there but a spiderweb of about the same size.
Transdimensional substantiation? Brainfart? Who knows?
