This is a pretty good representation of the mixed messages that we're getting from the administration concering Iraq. We're told that the situation is improving there even as the insurgents are gaining control of more and more cities.Wishful thinking won't make the problems go away, but it may help Bush get re-elected.
Here's a paste of the actual Rumsfeld quote:
Quote:
"Let's say you tried to have an election and you could have it in three-quarters or four-fifths of the country. But in some places you couldn't because the violence was too great," Rumsfeld said at a Senate Armed Services Committee (news - web sites) hearing.
"Well, so be it. Nothing's perfect in life, so you have an election that's not quite perfect. Is it better than not having an election? You bet," he said

Well, golly gee Mr Rumsfeld, that almost sounds like a legitimate election!
