Why do people contiunally discount Nomar? The Cubs got him for NOTHING. When are people going to realize that. If you want to debate the fact Nomar wasen't worth Alex Gonzo, then your an idiot. The Cubs make the world series last year if he doesn't bobble that ball turning that double play. Get the fuck outta Chicago.

I totally agree with KURANT-great points! Nomar is a much better option for the Cubs at SS than A. Gonzo anyday. I still blame Gonzo for Game 6 against the Marlins, not Bartman (and the other "fans" around him). You Red Sox fans did well in this trade by getting O. Cabrera, but the Cubbies would have given up too much in trading for Cabrera alone so that's why this deal was created and I thank Jim Hendry for making it happen. Red Sox fans should realize that this trade was a win-win for everyone and get over it-Nomar is not your problem anymore and the Cubs fans actually like him in Chicago. This is like when you break up with some chick and she was a total bitch to you-hence the falling out, but you are pissed off that she is with someone else and you wish them bad luck despite the fact that you broke up with her because your relationship sucked. Move on with it and leave our Nomar alone!
Now back to baseball....Cubbies have a great chance to make the Wildcard spot as the other teams in contention (Giants, Padres, Astros, Marlins) all play much more difficult schedules than the Cubs who play the Pirates, Mets, and Reds before finally ending the season in Atlanta (who will probably be saving their best pitchers for the playoffs). It is in the Cubs hands to make it happen and I think the pitching is finally coming together as Prior and Wood are starting to show hints of last years domination on the mound and Zambrano is kicking ass in Wrigley. All Cub fans are aware of the bullpen problems and the lack of a real closer, but the team overall has better players than last year (compare last year's players to Derek Lee, Micheal Barrett and a healthy Corey Patterson). I'll be the first to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the Cubs success last season and I look forward to watching them in October this year! And by the way, good luck to the BoSox.
