I would agree that Fords overall have very "mushy" steering. It's really hard to diagnose a problem with a car on a message board. One thing you can do is park your car on a decent surface, make sure a wheel is chalked (blocked) get under the front of the thing and start grabbing the suspension parts. Your tie rod ends (if you know what these are) should be fairly stiff, and not too easy to turn. Jack your car up (remember, to always use jackstands and chalk the wheels) and just by grabbing each side of the tire while it's up in the air and shaking around on it, does it move excessivley? (Im not the best speller in the world, trust me) when the car is back on the ground, push up and down on the fenders, making the cars shock travel come into play.
Specific problems can be dealt with, but "my steering feels goofy" is kind of tough
