Cartoon girls have always done something for me (and not in the weird way, either)
When I was a wee tyke it was Melodie from Josie and the Pussycats. Something about that silly, bubbly, always happy airhead just touched me (long before puberty -- don't even go there...)
Now, I'd say most of the "leading ladies" of Hayao Miyazaki's films. They are always well defined, strong women who aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe. Of them, I've always liked Nausicaa the best.
How's that for both ends of the spectrum?
