Lagavulin
Double snifter, neat.
It's the aristocrat of Scotch whiskey. A bold, rich, peaty, smokey flavor from an Islay single malt that will blow your socks off if you really like scotch. I usually turn to the smooth burn of scotch when the weather gets cooler. It's coming...
Oban is a good beginner's scotch. If you are really interested in it you can almost certainly find a Scottish Pub in your area with a decent selection of scotch that you can use to build a taste test sampler. A wee dram of three to six of the finest from smooth and crisp all the way up to Lagavulin will give you an idea of the differnt flavors and characteristics. Good stuff...and TOK has it absolutely spot on. Get a good piece of chocolate cake to go with it.
