I've never noticed a difference playing games on LCDs; most modern LCD displays don't seem to have refresh problems. The bigger problem for me is that they have a fixed native resolution and some games need lower resolutions for performance reasons, and of course you can't go higher than native. They can display lower resolutions by drawing one framebuffer pixel as multiple physical pixels but it usually looks terrible. These display things are fairly subjective though; for example I can't stand using CRTs running at refresh rates lower than 72-75 Hz but there are millions of people out there merrily running at 60 Hz oblivious to the fact that it can even be changed. The best advice I have is to actually look at the displays doing the tasks you want them to do and decide from there.
