I would say it's a developed taste. My first taste, Famous Grouse, wasn't too memorable. Later, I gained more interest into scotch and actually did research on how scotch was made, what the different regions taste like and so on. I couldn't wait to buy another bottle of a kind I hadn't tried. Keep drinking......you'll like it! If you don't, I'm sure you can find somebody who would gladly take the scotch off your hands.
