Although I'm from the original "Star Wars" generation, grew up with the first movies and all, I am by no means (although I wish I was!) an expert on the films, so feel free to rip my comments to shreds! Just commenting on what I think I remember!

I said highest ranking in the Imperial Army, Princess Leia was a member of the Senate. The same goes for the Alderaanian government, it's a peaceful planet, and had nothing to do with the Imperial Army.
