What RPG’s genre do you like most?

I always wondered why most of the RPG’s out there are Fantasy, do most people actually like this genre or are the game companies simply pushing the titles on us because they are the easiest to do? So vote for the RPG genre you like the most. Allow me to explain the options,

SCI-FI – It’s the future baby, where everyone has a laser pistol and a hover car. Everything that mankind has dreamed off it got.

Dystopian – We really let ourselves go this time. Sums, dirt, narcotics and nasty mutated whores are the good life. Improvements have been made but only to the worst aspects of humanity.

Post-apocalyptic – We had it and then we blew it all up! Where there is very little of anything but the goodies you dig up are sure to impress the masses. Explore the ruins of bombed out citifies to obtain that spiffy plasma gun so you can send the club wielding mutants screaming.

High Fantasy – The Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Goblins are at it again - a perfected recipe by now. Put on a suit of shiny armor and pick up a big ass axe then go cleave some dragons to impress the ladies who all just happen to be perfect 10’s and aren’t shy to show it off.

Hybrid Fantasy – Same as above but this time we got robots, laser guns, spaceships, trains and automobiles all mixed in with a medieval setting and everyone wears cool outfits.

Present Day – It’s now, accept that would be boring. So add some fantasy flavor and set vampires upon on L.A. or some Sci-Fi action and get an evil corporation to create a horde of zombies/monsters to devour New York.

If you can think of something different vote for the one that’s closest to what you like and then give us something more specific.

My favorite has always been the dystopian setting. It allows for allot of realistic conflict scenarios. It gives the game designers a chance to place neat futuristic concepts into the game without having everything look like Apple designed it. Finally it gives allot of room for creativity while still holding onto the boundaries of possibility. I wish more games were made in this genre.
