The Death Penalty is one of the few issues on which I have done a complete reversal of viewpoint. Time was, I was a staunch advocate of Capital Punishment. Now...I cannot condemn the practice loudly enough.
However...while I agree that forfeiture of Most Favored Nation status is certainly in order, I beleive that to completely abolish all trade relations with China would devastate our
own economy. When China was holding one of our U.S. Navy EP-3E Aries II aircraft, after it collided with a Chinese fighter jet over the South China Sea, I attempted a personal "boycott" of all goods that were of Chinese manufacture. Try to buy so much as a pair of shoes. It was only at this time that I realized the extent to which the goods that we consume are made in China. While we are certainly capable of it, I do not feel that US industry is prepared, at this point, to assume the massive burden of production required to satiate our consumerism.
