I played it. Is it addicting? Of course...most MMORPG's are. The character models look REALLY good as well as the environments. The environments could definitely be more detailed though. The ONLY thing to do in the game is level up basically. There are a few quests, but they're not engaging at all. In order to get a castle, you have to be a guild leader, and thousands (literally) of hours must be played to get your guild strong enough to claim a castle. The guild leader has to make a lot of in-game (and out of game) sacrifices in order to get a dragon and a castle. It's ridiculous how taxing it is to do some of the features in the game.
If you're in college, about 60-70% of college campuses scan the L2 port because it's a known P2P port. In other words, the game lags horrendously on most college campuses. I wouldn't even consider it if you're in college.
The customer support for the game is terrible. I know this from beta...the developers don't care what customers think and the forum moderators are idiots. Public Relations is low on the list for Lineage 2.
With more quests and a more engaging storyline, it could be a really good game. I love the style of the game and the great graphics, but there's just not much to do in the game besides level up forever. The teamwork aspect of the game isn't up to par with MMORPGs that came out even 5 years ago.
You can give it a try, but I gotta say that there's much better games out there!
