You poor bastard, right now is a terrible time to be in New Zealand. Especially Palmy.

Apparently (although I think we may have now been beaten) the Sky Tower is the largest free-standing building in the Southern Hemisphere.

We have an curiously large amount of native birds, insects and lizards, but with the exception of two species of bat, we have no native non-marine mammals. Also, many of our native birds are flightless, because they had no natural predators.

The Giant Weta is an insect we have that can grow to weigh more than a sparrow.
