I think in order to rationally discuss this issue we first need to define terms. What is "Good" and "Evil"? CSflim seems to be assuming that an earthquake is inherently evil. How can this be? Do you blame the universe for having the movement of matter without your consent possible? The world does not have any malice or intent to hurt anyone or anything.
So you must be considering evil to be merely injury, and not in a moral sense wrong. Therefore it would follow that in this same context you are not considering good to be morally right, merely pleasurable. I suspect that the phrase "God is good" refers to God being morally right, not that God is pleasurable (although he/she/it may well be).
With God being morally right, in order for your argument to apply it must be established that injury is always morally wrong, but we have already shown that there can be injury (natural events) which are morally neutral. So, your argument requires more work.
