I dunno man, I took all my camping stuff to morocco... you just have to take the right kind of camping gear. get a really good sleeping bag that packs down (I had one that weighed like 2 lbs and went down to 10*F), get a compact stove (if you even need it, depending on the style of camping you do), get a single person tent... don't pack more than a couple changes of clothes (and alot of socks!).. especially if you'll be around cities alot, you can just keep restocking certain things that would normally weigh you down on a long wilderness trip...
