While this would definitely work, I would personally feel comfortable enough with just hidden files knowing that my *sister-in-law* was the one I was hiding them from. I mean come on, if you think someone's going to go that far to find out your secrets, why would you give them a bed in your home? Just seems kind of weird to me. If this is still the case, go ahead and do some encryption research
