I have the same problem - I tried gel insoles, and they felt good for a day or two but after that I really couldn't tell I had them any more. I mentioned it to my doctor during a routine checkup and he checked my feet. Apparently I have fallen arches (flat feet). Short of surgery, the only way to relieve it is to get arch supports (Dr. Scholl's is what I got). I walk a lot, although not nearly as much as you, so it took a while for the residual ache to go away, but they did make a HUGE difference in the discomfort. Don't just assume that's it, though. I would see a doctor for something that important (what can we do without our feet, after all?)
Getting them in Rockports would be ideal. A podiatrist friend recommends them without reservation.
