Lost in the Bash shell
I'm studying a Unix module at present, and I'm having difficulties, especially with Bash shell scripting. My college is 100km away, and all the students speak a (to me) foreign language, so I generally end up having to solve problems on my own.
Being used to languages like Java & Javascript, I find Bash rather upside-down, and have difficulty doing some of the simplest operations.
I do have a few specific questions to ask. I have spent countless hours trying to find answers, and all the while I suspect that anyone with even the most basic grounding in Bash (or Bourne) could sort me out just like that.
Is there anyone who would be kind enough to help me - either with a few specifics, or generally ? I might be able to return the favour with some guidance on Javascript (maybe Java too).
