I have a Fantom, a Fury I think, and it was great for the first month, then it just -- I want to say sucked - but it really didn't suck -- it was just a really bad vacuum.
If there's embedded pet hair, your best bet might be to have a professional carpet cleaner come in - or get the building to replace the carpets if its that bad... (tell then you have allergies, living with someone else's dog hair is not acceptable to me)
